Happy Last Friday of the Month! You know what that means – it’s time to link up with my best girl Marcia and cleanse your soles. Let the runfessing begin…
The biggie: I’m not running right now. At all. I’m like a miser with the few measly milligrams of iron I have left in my body – I’m not spending them on anything! Even though all I want to do in the world is go for a run. Sad face. I’m trying (with moderate success) to act like this bout of anemia is just like any other overuse injury – I wouldn’t be running with a broken leg, now would I?
Related: It’s a rough time of year to not be running! Gorgeous weather, spring races galore and of course Boston. Ugh. Peanut butter and jealous.
And yet: I am racing this weekend. Or, more accurately, I am participating in a race this weekend. ‘Cause I sure as shootin’ ain’t racing it! The Capital City Classic has been on my calendar since the beginning of the year, since it’s Leg Four of the NorCal Tour de Fit. I had originally intended to run the 10-miler, so I guess the silver lining is that I hadn’t plunked down that chunk of change yet. I’ll be walking the 5K instead.
It’s true: I’m a pill to live with right now. Life has handed me lemons and I am making sour grapes out of them. I don’t even know how that works!
Okay, that really does feel better! A little bit of runfessing/ranting/whining/venting is good for your sole and your soul. Join in the fun!

Oh man SO sorry the iron issue is flaring up again. So bummed for you and I don’t blame you one bit for feeling down about it. Wish I were closer we could bitch together and it would be fun! Thanks so much for linking up! xo

I have it set up so the first new comment has to be approved. You know, just in case you’re a robot. 🙂 I wish you lived closer, too! For a lot of reasons!!

I’m sorry to hear about your struggles with anemia. Will you be retested soon? Making wine out of lemons…sounds very interesting. Try to enjoy your 5k!

Thank you! I’m figuring things out with my doctor right now, doing more testing and hopefully getting at the root cause of the anemia.

I’m so sorry about your anemia. Have you seen a hematologist to figure out why this is happening?

Not yet. My doctor is on a slightly slower time schedule than me to get me back to running. Lol! Though I do hope to get some referrals and answers next week.

There’s way too much pressure in making lemonade out of lemons. I prefer the sour grape method myself. It totally sucks that you can’t run! Boooooooo!!!!
