I love the idea of Wordless Wednesday, but let’s face facts: I’m not really a “wordless” kind of girl! Anyway, this is the picture I would have used had it been merely a wordless Wednesday:
Yes, that’s right – Little Boy started SIXTH GRADE on Monday (we have a year-round calendar here, obviously). To make matters worse, he turns 11 on Friday. This week always packs a little emotional punch for me – too much growing up! If there was a way to flash-freeze the boys right now to stay this age, I totally would; ten and twelve might be as perfect as it gets. I am almost entirely unprepared for a year that will bring not one but two graduations – Little Boy’s from 6th grade and Big Boy’s from 8th grade.
*sigh*
I know you don’t come here to read a mom-blog, but I actually am feeling sort of wordless about my training right now. Training and I are hitting a little rough patch in our relationship. I’m still getting out there and getting it done, but… meh.
Good thing I have questions to answer. Still haven’t asked me one yet? Do it now, I’ll be answering them tomorrow! Oh, and while you’re digging back through last week’s posts, visit the one where you sign up for the Great Big Bloggy Post Exchange!
I just stumbled across your blog.
A year round school year? I love the sounds of that. I found myself so bored during the summer when I was growing up.
I can’t even picture my kid using the toilet, so graduations are way out there in “theoretical” land. I know I’ll be upset when it does happen though. Why can’t they be little babies for longer?
Cute picture! I have found as a parent I was always ready for the age they were at even though I couldn’t imagine it previously.
I would love to know more about the year round calendar. How do you like it? Hate it? Good points? Bad points? We are looking at it in my state and I always thought I would hate it but I can see it’s merits.
You’re right! They ARE at the most lovely age. A little independent but still respectful. No teenage attitude yet and you, as parent, have not become an idiot who knows almost nothing. Enjoy it while it lasts.
But in saying that I think your boys are just gorgeous and if they keep involved in their sport you’ll probably have very little problem with them.
I can’t picture the school year starting in summer when it should be still vacation time!
Question for you: Give me your hottest tip for communicating with your boys (the younger ones)!
I’m kinda with you on the training burnout. I took an extra rest day because it is TOO DARN HOT for me to force myself through a 3 mile run.
Unrelated to this post but I’m glad I’m not the only one who has issues with the way my significant other loads the dishwasher! 😉
Me and my training are at that ‘meh’ period also. I just do want I want to do that day and that seems to be working.
You have nice lookin’ boys! Enjoy them while you can. Personally, I think I would have frozen my son around first grade. He still thought I walked on water! 🙂
Your boys are such cuties. Little boy isn’t looking so little anymore. :S Sometimes I just look at my kids and wonder how they got so grown up… any my oldest is only going into 3rd grade!
Heading over to ask some questions now. 🙂
No back to school! I’m so not ready. Wow 11. I’ll be there next year. Time flies. Too darn fast now that I’m not 29 anymore.
