Um, yeah, not really.
But Miss Zippy (I’m not even going to ask if you read her, because of course you do) had a fun post today about how she’s doing so much swimming lately that she’s gonna take Michael Phelps down this year. Well, I’ve been doing so much swimming this week that I’m dreaming REALLY big and putting myself in the same league as Zippy!
Exhibit A: I’ve been in the pool three times in the last six days – I think that’s more swimming than I did in the entire calendar year 2009.
Exhibit B: IronHubs told me I’m a rock star, and I think we all know that he’s an impartial judge of these matters.
Exhibit C: Yes, it was wetsuit-assisted (omg, not only was the outside air colder today than my last outdoor swim {high 40s}, but the pool was colder, too – 48 degrees!), but today’s swim was the fastest by far of any swim in my entire life: 500 meters in 10:34, a 2:07/100 pace! [Really long sidebar about my distance and pace in the pool. I know for a lot of you, me crowing about 500 meters at a 2:07 pace is pretty much the equivalent of saying, “I just walked really slowly around the block – woo hoo!” I’ve recently decided to be okay with that. I totally believe in the power of positive self-talk and rather than always being self-deprecating about my slow swimming, I have decided to be proud of what I’m accomplishing in the pool. I might be the last one out of the water, but at least I got in, ya know?]
I think it’s clear that 2011 is the year I DOMINATE in the water, so Zippy and Michael better look out!
What did you do today that made you feel like a rock star?? Tell me all about it!

Hmmm what did I do? I cranked out 4 miles on the treadmill without stopping faster than my usual snail pace. Now that can’t compare to Rio’s 21 mile treadmill run but hey it’s all relative right!

I just had a super an awesome 5 mile run that included 16 x 1 minute fast/ 1 minute slow. While I don’t like slowing down to the point where people can pass me (no one did, but i still don’t like “looking” slow) i just loooove ZIPPING by people! We are all rockstars!
great workouts today!!

You are too funny with your smack talk. I don’t think you could pay me to get in that cold of a pool!

I have no concept of how fast that swimming pace is so I’ll just be really impressed 🙂 Today I was a rockstar because I started my super intimidating placement and haven’t cried yet. Woot!

Yes! Another Californian steps up to show our true Studliness. We get a bad rap, eh? Nice job P.

Great job! And you should be proud of what you are doing in the pool! I am proud of you!

Today I ran at 11.5mph, even if it was for only 30 seconds.

Congrats on your awesome swimming!! 🙂 I think you’re so tough to swim in the cold! And I, personally, am impressed with your improving times! I started out swimming super fast – but I could only go about 100 meters before I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I’ve slowed it down….waaaaay down, and it’s going SO much better already. I’m trying to get more comfy in the water.
Today I felt like a rock star because I didn’t throw myself a pity party and sit around missing the holidays and my family (they live 3000k away). I given a rest day by my physiotherapist, so I used the time to write, organize & apply to jobs! 🙂

peeled away the layers of utter frustration in my 10 year old. he was having difficulties finding correct sentences of certain spelling words he will be tested on. nothing feels better to me when i see the light bulb go on as his face lights up. son – rockstar. me – rockstar “tutor”. which was one of his spelling words. 🙂

The challenge is on! Will this three-way tussle be televised on free-to-air? In Australia?

Aren’t you just Miss Super Fantastic! Thanks for the lift. Today was one of those days where if breathing wasn’t automatic, I would have forgotten to do it, busy! So reason I rock today? Um, home made pizza fun with my 3 year old.

Hahaha, I managed to get out of bed at 6:30 am. I’ve been sick for the past three days but am finally feeling human again! I can’t wait to get back to running!

I will never diss a swimmer. You are right you are awesome for getting in!
My rockstar performance of the day will begin with a tempo run in single-digit temps as soon as I’m done sporting my bus-stop chic (flannel pj’s tucked in cords) and get these kids off to school.

Ok, I’m looking over my shoulder! Way to get in the yardage and bring the times down. Keep the momentum going!
Thanks much for the shout-out!

Yay for the power of positive talk! Darn right, you should brag cuz you got it done! I like your attitude. It’s motivating. I didn’t feel like a rock star today, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity tomorrow!

Oh, and I meant to add my congrats to your boys for their awesome race results. They rock too!!

For others of us that swim time might as well have been in Greek. I’m sure it’s a bazillion times faster than I could doggy paddle my way across the pool!
