Today has been chock full of good stuff and it’s not even 2 o’clock – I love it!
- I ran this morning! It was brief and it was slow, but it was almost pain-free, so I’m calling it a victory. I made it two miles at a …well, let’s call it a “relaxed” pace. My booty felt great. My hammy was still barking at me, but not until I was past the 1.5-mile point. This is excellent progress and really started my day off on the right foot. *groan* On tap for this week is more stretching, more rollering and more taking it easy. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a long run of 4 miles next weekend.
- I swam in a heated pool this morning! IronHubs has access to a nice pool through his work that is inconvenient to use (it’s about 20-30 minute drive from our house and he has to accompany me, since it’s for employees only), but – check this out – completely deserted on the weekends. Believe me, I know exactly how lucky I am! I went a little bit further this morning – 750 meters – and it felt really good. I was slow, of course, but my pace was consistent with my training last year, so I’m happy that I don’t seem to have lost too much swim fitness since September. I have gotten awfully used to those wetsuit-assisted swim times, though!

The sun came out today! I am NOT complaining about the cold, believe me (I know better!), but the last four days have been nonstop gloomy, cloudy and gray. Weather like that puts me in a really blech-y mood. It’s still chilly here, but seeing the sun makes everything better.

I’ve decided to join my local TRI club! This is such a huge, huge, HUGE step outside my comfort zone that I can’t believe I’m even thinking about it. I’m not a social butterfly, but every so often I get a real longing to meet more people (*ahem* in the real world – why don’t all of you live in my neighborhood???) who share my athletic interests. About two years ago, I joined a meetup group for a running club here in my town, but I never went to a single meeting. I got their constant emails and reminders but I made excuse after excuse not to go. The times weren’t convenient, I wasn’t training for the same races…yadda yadda yadda. It was all fear and intimidation talking, of course. What if they’re all younger than me? What if they’re all faster than me? What if they’re not friendly? What if the girls all have smooth, pretty hair and big boobs? (“Oh, hello, Massive Insecurity! I didn’t see you there.”) Well, this time around I still have all those same fears and insecurities but I’m not letting them stop me! Even if I’m the slowest, most uncoordinated, oldest and ugliest girl in the club.
What good news do you have today??

What a great day!! 🙂 and a huge congrats for joining the tri team!! I did the same thing when I moved to a new city in hopes of meeting friends and becoming a swimmer – and though I’ve only been in the group for a month, I’m so glad I joined! Good luck and I hope you have lots of fun!

I felt the same way the first couple of times I went to my running club, but everyone was very nice and friendly. So have fun and you will enjoy it. Make sure you go more than one time though 🙂 Usually I end up talking to people after a few times going (I know I am slow to chat people up) 🙂 Enjoy!

Great news with the run and the tri club. Realize some of them can be insane but I’m sure there will be others that you match up with well.
How did warm water feel?

Very awesome about the tri club!! And the pool I go to (90 min drive, 30 sounds like HEAVEN!) is always empty on the weekends. It is awesome, right? I hope it works out that you can get there often!!!

I have never joined a running group. You have my admiration as it would be out of my comfort zone too! That pool looks great.

My good news… I start marathon training tomorrow… yay!

Fantastic. You know, for me, sometimes the little aches & pains go away during a run. Takes awhile to get warmed up. That may happen to you too.
I think you will love that Tri Club. Good for you for getting out of your comfort zone.

First of all – runners have tiny boobs! But I can relate. I’ve thought about joining a running group and I’m super anxious about all the same stuff (except for the boobs). You’re awesome though! You’ll fit right in!
(Also – glad to hear the muscles are getting better. I’m telling you…Bikram yoga…)

Glad the run went well, the swim was great and the weather lightened up. What TRI club? Oh no, will we be rivals this summer? Not that I can rival you, but it’ll be neat to see each other in club colors.

I felt the same way about joining my local tri club last year. You know what – they were all faster than me but the majority of them (there’s always the exception) were really nice and very encouraging and it was cool to have the support at races.

I tagged you in my latest post with a “Stylish Blogger Award.” You don’t have to play, but part of the rules is me letting you know that I’ve enjoyed finding and reading your blog, and I think you’re awesome.

I’m having a panic attack just looking at that purdy pool and reading about your tri club–WOW girl! But tell that insecure twin big boobs are way over-rated. The tiny perky ones never sag. 😉
